Applications closed

Applications have reopened for candidates who do not require scholarships. We will continuously process new applications, with notifications of acceptance or rejection being sent within 3 days of application submission.

The application deadline is 24/Nov/2023 (Anywhere on Earth). However, the applications may be closed earlier if the number of applications exceeds our capacity to review. Therefore, we strongly advise early application.

Learning Experience

Together with the team of invited lecturers, we intend to provide an efficient and quality knowledge transfer through:

  • carefully designed curriculum and program,
  • coordination between our lecturers,
  • a mix of theoretical lectures and hands-on tutorials,
  • support for students from our teaching assistants,
  • provoking and facilitating collaboration between students, lecturers, and teaching assistants.

Selection Process

We want to ensure an engaging and diverse audience. We aim to select a diverse group of 150 participants. The selection will be based on multiple criteria such as experience, institution affiliation, geographical location, and gender. The selection process will be based on the submitted material and executed by a diversified committee of trusted experts.

Target Audience

Everyone is welcome: PhD students, exceptionally advanced MSc or BSc students, experienced researchers (postdocs, faculty or industry members), engineers and other practitioners from industry, and also hobbyists.

We expect from the participants experience with programming in Python, experience in machine learning, and at least a basic but sound knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, probability theory, and statistics.

Registration Fee

  • Students (including PhD) → 900 BRL
  • Academia → 2000 BRL
  • Industry → 3000 BRL

The registration fee includes all courses, coffee breaks, lunches, and brunches.

Scholarships

If the registration fee or travel costs may prevent you from attending the school, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship. We can offer only limited scholarships aimed primarily at applicants from developing countries and under-represented groups.

ECTS Credits

The Tropical ProbAI school will not offer any ECTS credit. We will offer certificates of attendance.

Nevertheless, the Nordic ProbAI school has been registered as a Ph.D. course (at NTNU) and awarded 7.5 ECTS credit points. If you need ECTS credits, we recommend you apply for the Nordic ProbAI school, which is happening in the Northern Hemisphere summer period.

Invitation Letters for Visa

Invitation letters will be issued only to attendees, i.e., after they have been accepted and registered.
